Who writes our content
Guides and pages on IL Solar Deals are written and maintained by the IL Solar Deals Editorial Team. Our goal is to explain Illinois solar programs (ComEd and Ameren rebates, net metering, Illinois Shines and federal tax rules) accurately and in plain English, so homeowners can compare quotes with confidence.
How we research
- We rely on primary sources: the Illinois Power Agency and Illinois Shines, the Illinois Commerce Commission, ComEd and Ameren Illinois, the IRS and consumer advocates such as the Citizens Utility Board.
- Every guide lists the sources behind its facts at the end of the article.
- When sources disagree or a program is still changing, we say so instead of picking a number.
- We avoid promising specific savings. Results depend on each home, its utility and current program rules.
How we keep content current
Illinois solar programs change often. We review rebate amounts, net metering rules and tax guidance at least quarterly and whenever a major change is announced. Each guide shows the date it was last updated. Our current review date is October 2026.
How we make money
IL Solar Deals is free for homeowners. We are paid by solar installers and partners when we connect them with homeowners who request a quote. That relationship never changes the facts in our guides: we don't recommend specific installers in our articles, and no partner reviews or approves our content.
We are not affiliated with ComEd, Ameren Illinois, the Illinois Power Agency, Illinois Shines or any government agency.
Not professional advice
Our content is general information, not tax, legal or financial advice. For decisions about taxes or financing, talk to a qualified professional.
